Frootogo Crops

Apples: We grow 10 acres of Dwarf Tree apples (the Dwarf size allows for easier picking). There are currently 15 varieties, which include the standard kinds such as McIntosh and Empire to the fancy GingerGolds, Royal Gala, Spencers and Honeycrisp etc.

Pears: There are three types of pears we grow; Bartlets, Bosc and Flemish Beauty.

Plums: We grow three types of plums; Stanley Prune Plum, V-Blue and Valour.

All of our fruits are picked or pick your own.

Picking your own fruit is simple and fun for one or the whole family. You can help yourself to one of our many little wagons and plastic pails and off you go. There is nothing like fresh tree ripened fruit. We’ll help you choose the right kind of fruit for your taste and needs.

Pumpkins and Squash: We grow 15 acres of pumpkins. We plant and weed by hand. There are a wide variety to choose from and also a large selection of Squashes and Gourds too.

The above pictures were taken at the end of June, 2009.  You can see our hand-planted crop of pumpkins starting to grow into lush plants that will give us our fall crop.

(For more detailed information on squash and pumpkins link on the red link above)

Alternate Crops:  At Frootogo, we do crop rotation.  We often plant soybeans or winter wheat.

We are fortunate to have some of our own bee hives, which assist in the polination of the crops.  We do sell some of our own pure honey in the fall and well as another supplier we have of the pure non-pasturized honey.

Strawberries: After much consideration - Frootogo has decided to concentrate their efforts on their late summer and fall crops.  This means there will not be strawberries for sale anymore.  in However, we are excited about our recent new addition with the bakery and soup kitchen.
